(847) 385-7754 ARLINGTON PARK SURPASSES $5 MILLION IN TOTAL HANDLE ON INAUGURAL HISPANIC "FIESTA IN THE PARK" DAY ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 13, 2002) -- For the first time this season, Arlington Park surpassed the $5 million mark in total commingled handle with $5,406,306 wagered Saturday on the 10-race card. The total surpassed by $734,616 the previous meet high of $4,671,690 that was wagered yesterday, Friday, July 12, 2002, and was nearly $2 million more than the $3,469,377 bet on the same day last year. In addition, the on-track handle of $836,200 was $65,554 more than the $770,646 wagered on this day in 2001. An estimated 1,000 people attended Arlington Park's inaugural Hispanic "Fiesta in the Park" celebration boosting the overall crowd to 9,113, an increase of 573 from the 8,540 attendance of a year ago on this day. - END - |
