(847) 385-7535 LAVIOLETTE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING 4TH RACE MISHAP ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 7, 2002) -- Jockey Shane Laviolette appeared to have escaped serious injury in Sunday's fourth race when he fell from his mount Let's Dance Nance, one of several horses that bumped several strides out of the starting gate in the six-furlong race. Laviolette tried to hold onto the reins but was ultimately tossed to the track where it appeared that he was struck by a trailing horse. The 28-year-old native of New Orleans was conscious when he was transported by ambulance directly to Northwest Community Hospital where his condition is being evaluated. - END - |
