ARLINGTON PARK ANNOUNCES POST-TIME SCHEDULE FOR 2002
Friday's Party in the Park 3 p.m. Post Time Returns as Part of Promotions Schedule
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Jan. 30, 2002) -- Arlington Park announced its post-time schedule for their 2002 meet that begins on Wednesday, June 5 and ends Sunday, Oct. 27. Arlington will conduct 107 racing days on Wednesdays through Sundays, with Mondays and Tuesdays being dark, with the exception of Labor Day and Columbus Day on Monday, Sept. 2 and Oct. 14, respectively, when there will be racing.
From Opening Day on June 5 through the end of September, post time will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, while the first race will go off at 3 p.m. each Friday in conjunction with Arlington's Friday "Party in the Park." During October, post time on all days from Wednesday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 20 will be 1 p.m.
On the Fourth of July, International Festival of Racing Day (Arlington Million) and the week of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, post times will be different. In 2002, Arlington Park will present again its award-winning Fourth of July Fireworks display on Thursday, July 4. First post will be at 4 p.m., with the fireworks scheduled following the races at dusk. On International Festival of Racing Day, Saturday, Aug. 17, when Arlington hosts Illinois' only three Grade I stakes (Arlington Million, Beverly D. and Secretariat Stakes), the first race is slated for noon.
From Wednesday to Friday (Oct. 23-25) during the week of the Breeders' Cup and the following day, Sunday, Oct. 27, post time will be noon. Post time for the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, with an 11-race card that includes eight Breeders' Cup races plus three additional stakes, will be announced at a later date.
In addition to Arlington's Party in the Park every Friday from June 7 to Sept. 13, Pepsi Family Days will be held every Sunday from June 9 through Sept. 15 and the weekly Saturday Sweepstakes return from June 8 until Sept. 14. Also, each Wednesday from June through September, and all Wednesdays and Thursdays during October will be special Senior Days with a discounted admission of $2 for seniors age 55 or older.
