Turf Publicists of America (12/11/15)


TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Turf Publicists of America (TPA) slate of officers for 2016 will have a familiar feel as Rhonda Norby of Equibase Company and longtime publicist Lynne Snierson were each re-elected to a two-year term as vice-presidents of the organization it was announced Tuesday by TPA President Jim Mulvihill at the TPAís Mark Kaufman Workshop at the University of Arizona Symposium on Racing and Gaming.

Norby and Snierson will serve as officers for 2016-17, joining Mulvihill and Vice Presidents Sophia McKee of Emerald Downs and Joe Bacigalupo from the NTRA each of whom were elected to a two-year term last year. In addition, longtime publicist and current racing official Dave Zenner will continue as the organizationís Secretary/Treasurer through 2017.

The new slate of officers was installed immediately.

The TPA is an organization that was created in 1951. It is comprised of approximately 150 Thoroughbred racing publicists and marketing executives at racetracks throughout North America with the shared goal of promoting the sport of Thoroughbred racing.

Each year, the organization sponsors the TPA Big Sport of Turfdom Award to recognize an individual or individuals who enhanced the sport of thoroughbred racing through their cooperation with the media and racetrack personnel. The Big Sport of Turfdom has been presented annually since 1966.

In addition, since 2013 the organization has awarded an annual scholarship for a Race Track Industry Program student with a strong record of academic achievement and an interest in journalism or publicity.
