ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (August 7, 2015) – For the first time since Arlington International Racecourse reopened in 1989, the track’s International Festival of Racing—the annual event featuring the Arlington Million—will have a presenting partner, it was announced today.

That partner is Elmhurst-based LiftMaster®, the number one brand of professionally installed residential garage door openers.

“Arlington is very selective when looking for a major partner for our most prestigious races and we have found the perfect partner, in LiftMaster,” said Tony Petrillo, general manager at Arlington International Racecourse. “A partnership such as this allows us to continue to build our International Festival into not only a marquee racing event, but a day filled with entertainment, making it a summer event that is not to be missed.”

The partnership brings together two industry leaders: Arlington International Racecourse, a premier Churchill Downs racing destination and LiftMaster, a company that has led the garage door industry in safety, quality and innovation for more than 45 years.

“This is a great partnership opportunity for LiftMaster,” said Bob Markwart, President of LiftMaster Americas. “The International Festival of Racing is known throughout the world because of the Arlington Million, making it a wonderful complement to some of our other sponsorships like NASCAR and Monday Night Football. It’s a real honor to be associated with such a prestigious event right here in the Chicagoland area.”

The Arlington International Festival of Racing featuring the Arlington Million presented by LiftMaster will be held this year on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The 33rd running of the Arlington Million will highlight a prestigious day of racing that also includes four other graded stakes races; The Grade I Beverly D, The Grade I Secretariat Stakes, the Grade III American St. Leger and the Grade III Pucker Up Stakes.

The Arlington Million was the world’s first Thoroughbred race to offer a $1 million purse. The race has been won by some of the most legendary horses, jockeys and trainers in the history of horse racing.

The Arlington International Festival of Racing featuring the Arlington Million presented by LiftMaster is the culmination of a weeklong series of events and parties that bring the racing world to Illinois and Arlington International Racecourse.

The 33rd running of the Arlington Million will be televised live in an hour-long broadcast on WGN-TV from 5-6 pm CDT and will feature both the Million and the Beverly D. live.

Arlington International Racecourse – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 77-day meet in 2015 from Friday, May 1 through Saturday, Sept. 26. Arlington International Racecourse, whose parent company is Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates ten off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities in Arlington Heights, Aurora, Chicago, Waukegan, Villa Park, Rockford, South Elgin, Hodgkins, McHenry and Orland Hills. Arlington International Racecourse is a proud member of America’s Best Racing.
