Work All Week Gets Final Breeders' Cup Prep at Hawthorne
Midwest Thoroughbreds Inc.'s Work All Week, reigning Illinois Horse of the Year, posted his final local workout early Saturday morning in preparation next weekend's $1,500,000 Grade 1 Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint.
Work All Week has been victorious in 11 of his 14 races, along with two second-place finishes. His lone finish out of the money came in his lone race at two when they ran him on turf for the first, and only, time. He is nine for nine on dirt.
He officially worked four furlongs under regular rider Florent Geroux who had flown in from Kentucky just for the workout. He went :12.2, 24.2, 36.0, 47.3 and galloped out in hand. Clocker Bobby Belpedio's comment about the work was "well in hand."
Trainer Roger Brueggemann was very pleased with the workout. "We made it through this step. Now we need to make it through his next one."
Work All Week will be shipped to Kentucky Monday and will catch a flight to California Tuesday along with other Breeders' Cup hopefuls.
