Wednesday Racing Returns to Hawthorne Next Week
Wednesday racing returns next week. Beginning on March 6, we will host live racing Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through the duration of our spring meet, which ends April 28.
Galloping Out Rummage Sale
Galloping Out Thoroughbred Rescue Fund will be hosting a rummage sale in Hawthorne's Expo Center this Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3. Doors open each day at 9:00 am and admission to the rummage sale is free. All proceeds of the sale go to Galloping Out, to provide funding for the rescue, care, rehabilitation and retraining of off-the-track Thoroughbreds.

Hawthorne's Road to the Derby Contest
The Hawthorne Road to the Derby contest started last Saturday, February 23 and continues this Saturday, March 2 with the running of the Gotham Stakes. There is still time to get in the contest.
The contest, which runs through April 20, is free to enter and the grand prize will be a $1,000 wager to be played on the Kentucky Derby. There will be a winner at Hawthorne Race Course and each of the six Club Hawthorne OTBs--seven grand prize winners total. Pool Party with the Pros
Thanks to everyone who came out to Shark City OTB for our inaugural Pool Party with the Pros this Thursday. Brandy and Randy Meier were thrilled to be a part of the Pool Party and everyone had a great time. Our next Pool Party will be held at Stoney Point Grill in Mokena and will be hosted by trainers Chris Dorris and Hugh Robertson on March 14. Chris and Hugh will offer their professional insight to that weekend's races at Hawthorne while battling each other to win the most money back for the betting pool! Everyone is invited to the Pool Party! To get a piece of the betting action, $20 gets you a piece of the $500 minimum pool, lunch meal and two drink tickets (valid for beer, wine and soda).

ABOUT HAWTHORNE RACE COURSE
Hawthorne Race Course has been Chicago's "hometown track" for 122 years and currently offers the only traditional dirt racing for Thoroughbreds in northern Illinois. Hawthorne's spring meet opens February 15 and runs through April. Live racing is hosted Friday through Sunday in February and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in March and April. Daily post time is 1:35 pm, and admission costs $4. The historic track is located a half-mile north of I-55 on Cicero Avenue, and 2 miles south of I-290 on Laramie Avenue at 35th Street.
