WHHC QUALIFIER FRIDAY, MARCH 1 AT ALL ILLINOIS TRACKSIDE OTB LOCATIONS

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Feb. 21, 2013) – Trackside OTB will be conducting a live-money handicapping contest on Friday, March 1, where the winner will receive an expense-paid berth into the World Harness Handicapping Championship to be held at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, N.J. on April 13, 2013.

All players need to do to participate is purchase a $100 contest wagering card at the designated registration location at each Illinois Trackside OTB location and wager on at least one North American Standardbred (harness) race with a scheduled post time of 5:30 pm Central time or later. Registration will begin at 4:30 pm CT and close at 9 pm CT. The contest will run through the conclusion of the final Standardbred race of the evening.

At the end of the contest, the player who has accumulated the highest bankroll (subject to verification) will be the winner of the WHHC berth and $350 to be used toward their travel to New Jersey for the WHHC in April 2013. The winner of this contest must be able to travel to New Jersey for the WHHC – there is no cash equivalent prize. The top prize at the WHHC is expected to be $40,000 plus whatever the player earns in his/her bankroll.

The runner-up in the Trackside OTB contest will earn a $250 wagering voucher with third-place earning a $100 wagering voucher.

“We are very excited to offer our valued harness racing enthusiasts an opportunity to play for a berth in the WHHC,” explained Brittany Habbick, OTB Marketing Specialist for Arlington’s Trackside OTBs. “We think harness bettors will find the format quite favorable since they can wager into any open pool on any harness track racing that evening. No matter how well they do in the contest, they get to keep any money remaining on their contest card.”

The contest will be organic to a typical day at the track, meaning that players will have the flexibility to wager in more pools (Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta, and multi-race wagers such as the Pick 3 and Pick 4) than in most Standardbred contests and have freedom to participate from any location within only the designated Trackside Off-Track Betting facility as there is no need for assigned contest wagering windows. However, all wagers must be made using the contest card at self-service terminals only. Players may invest winnings into future wagers. For complete contest rules, visit Arlington Park’s Web site at www.arlingtonpark.com.

Trackside OTB will be offering additional live-money harness handicapping contests later this year with details forthcoming.
