JOCKEY STEPHANIE SLINGER NOTCHES WIN
Apprentice rider Stephanie Slinger notched her second career win in the fourth race at Hawthorne Race Course on a snowy Thursday afternoon.
Melanie Brown’s Featherinthebreeze, trained by John Haran, broke out at the start but Slinger quickly got the filly under control, went to the lead, and never looked back.
Slinger originally got her jockey license in 2009 but decided she wasn’t ready after riding in only a couple of races (and winning one) so she went back to galloping horses to gain more experience.
Stephanie is also currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Neuropsychology and hopes to get all the way through medical school.
Live racing at Hawthorne takes place four days a week and concludes Sunday, December 30. Live racing will be conducted every Thursday-Sunday. First post daily is 2:10 pm.
