STICKNEY, IL – She had never raced on dirt before but, in the end it didn’t matter. Even-money favorite My Option handled the dirt like a pro.

She was determined from the start and gave her trainer, Chris Block, some anxious moments when she didn’t seem to want to relax.

According to Block, “She was pretty aggressive early and I was real concerned going into the far turn that she might have used too much up to that point. But she was much the best.”

But rider Eddie Perez did keep her in check early, she raced right off the first flight of runners, and she just took over when Perez let her run.

She took the lead midway through the stretch and drew off to a four and a half length victory. Indygo Kiss made a late surge to get up for second, beating C’Mon Feet by a neck.

“After her maiden win on the grass here (October 25) I told Tim (owner/breeder Timothy J Keeley) we were just going to train her up to this race,” Block explained. “I’ll give her a series of three five-eighth works which should set her up nicely for this race. In those works she handled the dirt well. My biggest concern was how she would settle today.”

After honest fractions of :24.92, :69.87, 1:15.79 and 1:42.00 she finished the mile and a sixteenth mile on the dirt track in 1:48.75.

Block continued: “It’s going to be hard to replace Patty (recently retired Peyote Patty) but this girl looks like she might be on her way.”

My Option paid $4.00, $3.00 and $2.40. Indygo Kiss returned $6.20 and $4.00. C’Mon Feet paid $5.60.
