Rider Constantino Roman Taken to Loyola Medical Center
Jockey Constantino Roman was taken to Loyola Medical Center following an incident in Friday’s fifth race at Hawthorne. Vol Du Vent, who had raced only Sunday and had finished far back, broke down soon after the start in the one-mile turf event.
Roman never lost consciousness but was complaining of lower back pain after hitting the rail.
Vol Du Vent was humanely euthanized.
