TIM THORNTON TAKEN TO LOYOLA MEDICAL CENTER
Rider Tim Thornton was taken to Loyola Medical Center following an incident in the fourth race at Hawthorne on Sunday. Tim’s mount, Madmanskillz, apparently clipped heels with another runner, Grey Stream, at the top of the stretch.
Thornton was conscious but complaining of shoulder pain. More details will be forthcoming as we learn more.
Grey Stream was disqualified.
UPDATE: It was determined that Mr. Thornton suffered a broken collar bone and a number of facial fractures, the extent of which are not yet know. Information will be released as it is received.
Live racing returns to Hawthorne on Friday, October 5 and concludes Sunday, December 30. Live racing will be conducted every Wednesday-Sunday. First post daily is 2:10 pm.
