Full fields at Hawthorne

Another beautiful day for racing as we have an extremely competitive card for Saturday afternoon and full fields throughout. The opening day card produced a fine mix of winners as we had horses win on the lead while others closed from dead last. Jockey Inez Karlsson got a little taste of each in her spring return as she won aboard a pair of longshots on Friday, each in very different ways. In the second race, Inez sprung on top aboard Way Sideinn for trainer Frank Kirby and never looked back, kicking off the early Pick 4. In the 6th race, Inez came from the back of the pack, guiding Blue Canoe through traffic to get up in the final stride for an allowance victory that helped secure a Late Pick 4 Carryover of $13,386.

Trainer Roger Brueggemann scored a pair of victories on Friday, also in a similar style to Inez. In the day’s opener, our past fall meet’s leading rider, Florent Geroux, sat well off the pace with Judy’s Quest before angling out in the lane and running down B N Graced N Glory. In the fourth race, Brueggemann starter Come On Man sat much closer under jockey Tim Thornton and emerged with a clear win from near the pace. The card saw horses winning from everywhere. Expect much of the same today.

We do have a total of five carryovers for the Saturday card with the larger ones being the Pick 5 and Late Pick 4. A reminder, both of those wagers are only $.50 minimums and the Pick 5 has a low takeout of just 14 percent.

Don’t forget to sign up for our online Survivor Contest as one player will take home $2,500. The contest is free to sign up for and play. All you need to do is go to our website at www.Hawthorneracecourse.com and get all of the details. The contest begins next Friday.
