MINGER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF TURF PUBLICISTS; MANGALEE AND MULVIHILL NEW VICE-PRESIDENTS

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Turf Publicists of America (TPA) has elected Mandy Minger of Daily Racing Form to serve as the organization’s president for 2013-14 it was announced today by outgoing TPA President Bill Knauf at the TPA’s Mark Kaufman Workshop at the University of Arizona Symposium on Racing and Gaming.

At the same time it was announced that Sophia Mangalee of Emerald Downs and Jim Mulvihill of Fair Grounds Race Course and Casino were each elected as vice presidents for the first time. Each will serve a two-year term for 2013-14.

Minger, Mangalee and Mulvihill join Secretary-Treasurer Dave Zenner of Arlington International Racecourse and Vice Presidents Dan Silver of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and Julie Sarno, a consultant and former TPA president, each of whom were elected last year to serve a two-year term in 2012 and 2013.

The new slate of officers was installed immediately.

The TPA is an organization that was created in 1951. It is comprised of approximately 150 Thoroughbred racing publicists and marketing executives at racetracks throughout North America with the shared goal of promoting the sport of Thoroughbred racing.

Each year, the organization sponsors the TPA Big Sport of Turfdom Award to recognize an individual or individuals who enhanced the sport of thoroughbred racing through their cooperation with the media and racetrack personnel. The Big Sport of Turfdom has been presented annually since 1966.
