Market Share wins $235,000 American National Sophomore Colt Trot

Market Share devastated nine rivals en route to winning his ninth victory of the year in the $235,000 American National for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters, Saturday night at Balmoral Park.
This season’s Hambletonian winner was clocked in 1:53.3 with driver Tim Tetrick at the lines—who notched his third American National victory on the evening’s program with the trotting triumph.
“This horse really does better when he’s chasing horses and tonight he was first up to some very good trotters,” Tetrick admitted. “Linda (trainer Toscano) and her crew have done a great job keeping this horse fresh and happy all year, and I’m looking forward to driving him as a 4-year-old.”
Market Share waited patiently as Lindys Jersey Boy (Daniel Dube) took the field through fractions of :28.1, :55.4 and 1:24, before pulling and challenging the leader coming out of the final turn. Market Share turned on the steam, and easily drew away from the tiring leader to notch his 14th lifetime victory by 7¼ lengths.
Despite a very strong headwind, the determined trotter posted a :29.3 final brush.
The triumph pushed Market Share’s lifetime earnings to $1,982,693. Appomattox (Yannick Gingras) finished second, while Money On My Mind (Andy Miller) got up for third.
