EXOTICS CONTINUE TO PRODUCE BIG NUMBERS AT BALMORAL
With a Pick 5 carryover and a guaranteed pool of $50,000 thanks in part to a carry-over of nearly $14,000, fans across the country continued to support the Balmoral Park signal at the betting windows with another big night of wagering at the Crete plant.
Thanks in part to the guaranteed pool and full fields of competitive racing, another $82,465 was pumped through the betting windows throughout the country, resulting in a total Pick 5 pool of $96,366 for the night. Those lucky enough to have the winning combination of 2-5-9-2-6 pocketed a tidy sum of $1,315.65 for a 50 cent wager.
The momentum carried over to the next race which was the start of the $20,000 guaranteed Pick 4. With the crowd still buzzing, $45,691 was bet into the Pick 4 making that the largest amount ever wagered on the Pick 4 at Balmoral Park without the help of a carryover.
With the first three legs going to a 6-5 favorite, a 5-2 choice and a 2-1 co-favorite it appeared the payoff would be minimal in the Pick 4. But much to the delight of two lucky bettors, driver John De Long guided 78-1 longshot Seekin For Glamour up the passing lane to score by a 1 ¼ lengths in the final leg. With a win payout of $159.80 lighting up the tote board, the Pick 4 combination of 2-5-6-1 returned a whopping $19,220.80 for a $1 wager.
The action continues on Saturday night at Balmoral Park with a $20,000 guaranteed Pick 4 leading the way. On Sunday night a $10,000 Pick 5 guarantee will be in effect as well as a $25,000 Pick 4 guarantee. Post time both nights is 7:10 pm (central).
