TRACKSIDE CHICAGO/JOE’S BAR ON WEED STREET TO HOLD VIP RECEPTION AND RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY ON MONDAY, JULY 30
CHICAGO, Ill. (July 24, 2012) – After more than 20 years at its original location, the Trackside Chicago off-track wagering facility has moved across the street into Joe’s Bar, one of Chicago’s most popular locations to watch sports, listen to live music or have a private party.
To celebrate the move, Joe’s Bar and Trackside Chicago are holding a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and VIP Reception on Monday, July 30 from 4:30 pm until 6 pm. Media is welcome to attend the event which will include complimentary food and beverage service.
The event will be emceed by Arlington Park’s Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Howard Sudberry and feature remarks from Joe’s owners Tom DiSanto and Ed Warm, Arlington Park General Manager Tony Petrillo and 32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack.
After the traditional “Call to Post” is played by Arlington Park’s bugler, Ald. Waguespack will place a ceremonial wager to celebrate the new partnership between Joe’s Bar and Arlington Park/Trackside.
Joe’s Bar is a 20,000+ square foot warehouse-style venue located near the Lincoln Park neighborhood at 940 W. Weed Street in Chicago specializing in sports, live music and private parties. Joe's is host to both national and local music groups and have been home to acts such as Keith Urban, Rick Springfield, and Grammy award-winning Lady Antebellum. Joe’s is home to 14 different college alumni groups such as the Fighting Illini, the Indiana Hoosiers and the Florida Gators. Joe’s features unique entertainment and seating options throughout to include a newly constructed state-of-the-art off-track wagering simulcast center.
Arlington Park added more than 70 LED televisions to the 110 sets that already resided in Joe’s Bar. Wagering machines are located in both the Trackside Off-Track Wagering area as well as in the main bar area of Joe’s. Trackside is open day and night, seven days a week, 364 days a year to watch and wager on the best races from Arlington Park as well as all Illinois' Thoroughbred and harness tracks, plus races from across the country.
Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 90-day meet in 2012 from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, Sept. 30.
