‘RACING, MUSIC AND FIREWORKS EVENT’ DRAWS 37,809 TO ARLINGTON PARK JULY 4

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 5, 2012) – Arlington Park’s Independence Day “Racing, Music and Fireworks” celebration was warmly greeted by a crowd of 37,809 despite record-high heat. This represents an increase of 2.8 percent from the 36,749 that attended the 2011 fireworks held on Sat., July 2.

“The fireworks at Arlington Park—which we hear from people who attend is the best they’ve ever see—has become a tradition in Chicagoland so it doesn’t surprise us that fans came out despite the heat to enjoy great races, live music and our great fireworks show,” said Arlington Park General Manager Tony Petrillo. “People have come to expect other forms of entertainment along with racing when they attend Arlington, with the sports bar, beer garden, music stage, outdoor bar and miles of tree lined picnic grove and family entertainment we’ve become the in-place to be in the Chicagoland area during the summer.

Those in attendance were treated to nine exciting Thoroughbred races plus music by How Far to Austin in the Park area as well as a special performance in the winner’s circle by the Robbie Gold Band and an on-track performance from Medieval Knights followed by a fireworks extravaganza with synchronized that amazed the crowd for more than 30 minutes.

Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 90-day meet in 2012 from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, Sept. 30. Arlington Park, whose parent company is Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates 12 off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities – Trackside Arlington Park (Arlington Heights), Trackside Chicago, Trackside Quad City Downs (East Moline), Trackside Waukegan, Tavern on North featuring Trackside Villa Park, Shooters Bar & Grill at Don Carter Lanes featuring Trackside Rockford, Fat Sam’s Bar & Grill featuring Trackside OTB in Lockport, Stanley’s Ale House featuring Trackside OTB in South Elgin, Nicolino’s featuring Trackside OTB in McHenry, TADS Sports Bar & Grill featuring Trackside OTB in South Beloit, Salerno-Pincente Ristorante featuring Trackside OTB in Hodgkins and Sam’s Triple Crown featuring Trackside Orland Hills.
