HAWTHORNE RACE COURSE TO HOST DRF/NHC SUPER QUALIFIER
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) announced today that Hawthorne Race Course will host a two-day NHC Super Qualifier—offering 10 seats at the $2 million Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC) Presented by Sovereign Stable and Treasure Island Las Vegas—on Saturday and Sunday, November 26-27 at the Stickney, Ill., racetrack. The 10 highest finishing NHC Tour members in the competition will advance to the National Handicapping Championship, to be held January 27-28, 2012, at Treasure Island Las Vegas.
The Hawthorne tournament will carry a $200 entry fee plus $400 to be used as each player’s live bankroll ($200 bankroll each day). There is a limit of two entries per person. Additional information, including contest rules, will be available soon at www.hawthorneracecourse.com.
“We are delighted to partner with Hawthorne in bringing a major NHC qualifying event to Chicagoland,” said Keith Chamblin, Senior Vice President of the NTRA. “The Hawthorne staff is known for treating its customers well, and with 10 NHC seats at stake, we urge all those interested to register quickly.”
Before the start of contest play, all participants in NHC qualifying tournaments must have paid a one-time, annual NHC Tour membership fee of $45 in order to be eligible to compete at the NHC Finals. Individuals may sign up for the NHC Tour at www.NTRA.com/register/NHCTour.
In just its 13th year, the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship is the most important tournament of the year for horseplayers and is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino race books, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping Web sites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals. Each year, the NHC winner joins other human and equine champions as an honoree at the Eclipse Awards. In additional to the founding title sponsor, the NHC is presented by Treasure Island Las Vegas and Sovereign Stable.
