Snow and holiday scheduling at Hawthorne
A little bit of morning snow has fallen at Hawthorne as we kick off our Saturday afternoon of racing. The snow will add some moisture to the track but nothing that will affect the condition as we will have a fast main track for the nine-race card.
Looking back at the Friday card at Hawthorne, for one of the rare times this season we had nine different riders and nine different trainers win races. The track continued to play very evenly and the horses getting the best trip were winning races.
For those wanting to cash in on our racing action, there are a few ways to do it. First, players can play the Hawthorne races with their Club Hawthorne card and receive extra in return. All month long, players will receive an extra 1 percent back on their wagers placed at Hawthorne. That will lead to quicker returns and bonuses for those who are a part of our free rewards program. For details, or to sign up, visit Guest Services on the first floor of the grandstand.
Another great way to make money comes on a special live racing day as we will be running on December 26. We have our 1:40 pm first post and will be conducting a $10,000 Holiday Handicapping contest. As all of our contests are run, this is a live money contest, open to all wagers and players keep what they make. We will be giving away over $5,000 in cash and prizes, along with two trips for the 2012 Horseplayer World Series. For details, visit the website, www.Hawthorneracecourse.com.
After this weekend, our racing schedule changes slightly as we will be racing live Wednesday-Friday next week. We will be dark on Christmas Eve and Christmas day for live racing, but we will be open for simulcasting on Christmas Eve. We return with a live card on December 26, before closing out the racing season with live racing Wednesday-Saturday, with our final racing day of the season on December 31.
A reminder, we have an online chat today and tomorrow on HorseplayerNow.com. We will be focusing on the Hawthorne races, providing selections and insight on the day’s action. To enter the chat, go to the Hawthorne webpage and click on the HP Now tab in the middle of the screen. That chat room opens at 1:15 pm and will run through the end of the racing day.
Only a couple of early scratches today, we have a fast main track.
