Holiday schedule at Hawthorne
Back at it for another week of racing under sunny skies, with a fast main track and a fine nine-race Wednesday afternoon card. We have four weeks left of racing for the fall meet as we run our normal schedule this week and next, racing live Wednesday – Sunday with a first post daily of 1:40 pm. For the week of Christmas, we will race live Wednesday-Friday, December 21-23 before going dark for live racing on the 24th and 25th. We will be open for simulcasting on the 24th as there are a few tracks running in the afternoon. We return with a special live card on December 26 before finishing up with four days, December 28-31. First post through the remainder of the meet is 1:40 pm.
For those Club Hawthorne members, now is the time to make sure to use your Club Hawthorne card when wagering on races at Hawthorne. All month long, players will receive an additional 1 percent when they place wagers on Hawthorne’s live races. The 1 percent adds up quickly and to make even more money, wager onsite at Hawthorne to avoid paying the OTB surcharge.
This Saturday is another of our pool parties as ESPN Radio Personality and racing expert Harry Teinowitz will be on hand to host the pre-race show with myself and then conduct the pool party for the fans. Harry did an excellent job in his last pool party, creating a fine return to all who joined in. The pool party costs only $20, and fans receive two hours of food and beverages, along with a share of anything Harry makes on his $500 worth of “pool” wagers. On the past Sunday card, the nine races were won by nine different riders. One trainer had a double as Charlie Livesay won a pair, including an upset victory with McLard in the day’s featured 8th race.
