More 10-race cards at Hawthorne

A nice November day outside as we have sunny skies, a fast track and a turf listed a good for the Wednesday 10-race card. Entries have been filling very well this meet and it has shown in the starters per race figure. Despite having 11 days where races have come off the turf this meet, the average starters per race is 8.97 through this past Sunday. Because of how well the entries have gone for our five-day racing weeks, you will see more 10-race cards in the second half of the meet as we look to give horsemen more of an opportunity to race.

Looking at an update for the standings, jockey Florent Geroux continues his solid meet as he leads all riders with 37 wins. Tim Thornton has come on strong in recent weeks sitting a solid second with 31 victories while Eddie Perez and Julio Felix are tied for third with 25 wins apiece. For trainers, Roger Brueggemann still holds a sizeable lead with 23 wins on the meet. Second is Chris Block with 13 wins while Joel Berndt has moved into third with 12 winners saddled. For owners, Midwest Thoroughbreds stand atop with 14 wins followed by William Stiritz with 7 wins.

Looking ahead on the schedule, we have our normal racing week, running live Wednesday Sunday. First post this week is 1:40 pm daily with a 3:00 pm start on Fan Friendly Friday. Next week, we will not be racing on Thanksgiving but will be open for simulcasting with our regular post times. Next Friday, the 25th, will be our final late Friday post. Once we enter December, first post daily will be 1:40 pm.

Fortunately, the temps have held above freezing, allowing us to continue on the turf. We will be running turf races on lane 3 this week, and then moving the rail back to lane 1 for the following week, weather permitting.

Only a few scratches on the Wednesday card:
