Off turf but clearing at Hawthorne
First of all, my apologies that the stable notes have not been out more consistently. I will make every effort to put out notes on a daily basis. Second, there has been a couple questions in regards to how my selections perform and how my wagers would be placed every day. Beginning with todays selections, you will see my performance on the meet of what my top selections have done and what the ROI, based on a $2 across the board wager, would be on each selection.
Additionally, I was asked how I would wager each card. So, while I will still be sending my Pick 4 selections to TVG daily, I will also begin a bankroll on the website and track the daily performance of that bankroll as well. What many fans miss out on, is that public handicappers do have a bit of a tough job. They are asked to make selections on every race, every day, and are expected for those horses to perform. At the same time, those selections have to be made days in advance, before knowing weather or track conditions, and regardless of scratches that could affect how a race is run, and the ultimate outcome of a race. But, since I was asked to put my money with my mouth is, I will do it in the form of providing a tally of my daily results and my selections results.
Yesterday we had quite a bit of rain in the Chicago area, so we are off the turf course today, and will be off the turf course for Thursdays races as well. Fortunately, the clouds have broken, the sun is shining and it is breezy outside. This, along with closing the track an hour early for training, is allowing for the surface to dry out quickly. Right now I have the track listed as good to open races, but there is a possibility that the track will become fast by first post.
For those not here onsite, there is a strong headwind into the stretch. Often times that leads to front-running types having a little more success as they are allowed to get a breather on their run down that backside and can save something for the stretch. While they save energy that they normally use early, often times closers have to work a bit harder because they are running into those winds the entire stretch while they try to make up ground. Keep an eye on how the track plays early.
We had quite a few scratches today, but fortunately with main-track only horses in the turf races, each turf race retained a field of 7. Below are the scratches for today. Good luck with all of your selections.
