Mystery vouchers, X Factor at Hawthorne

What a gorgeous day outside as we are expecting an afternoon full of sunny skies and temps in the 50s for a very good Saturday afternoon card. There is a lot taking place at Hawthorne today so make sure to be a part of it. For the racing fans, today is the redemption day for the mystery vouchers that were mailed out. If you did not receive a voucher and would like to get on our mailing list, you can supply your address at Guest Services on the first floor of the grandstand when you sign up for Club Hawthorne.

Also, for those fans of talent competitions, today is also an opening round of auditions for the show “X Factor.” This is an open audition for anyone who wants to try to get onto the Simon Cowell phenomenon and those who get recognized Saturday will get a front-of-the-line pass for the main auditions for the show later in the year.

On the racing end, Saturday provides a very good nine-race card. The card has a pair of fine optional claiming allowance races, which go as the fifth and seventh races on the card. Both are extremely competitive fields with multiple stakes winners as we will get a preview of some of the runners that we will see on Illinois Champions Day here on April 23. Also, the Pick 6 is worth jumping into with a carryover of nearly $13,000!

We are only one week away from the 54th running of the Grade III $300,000 Illinois Derby. The race will be drawn on Wednesday and looks to provide a solid field once again.
