MAYWOOD TRAINER RACE, CARRYOVERS AND MANDATORY PAYOUTS KICKOFF BIG WEEKEND
EARLY 6:30 HOLIDAY POST TIME AT BALMORAL THIS WEEKEND
By Michael Antoniades, Balmoral Park Racing Analyst
Maywood Park and Balmoral Park close out the year in Chicago with the final two cards of the 2011 season. A tight trainer race and a Pick 5 carryover will kick off the holiday weekend tonight at Maywood Park.
Going into the Friday Maywood finale, David McCaffrey holds a two-win lead over Pete Procopi and a three-win margin over Kathy Millman and Terry Leonard. McCaffrey will send out seven horses while Procopi sends six to the post in what could be the most exciting finish in recent memory.
Trainer Robert Phillips has run away with the Balmoral title with a 14-win lead on Nelson Willis going into the Saturday finale. Driver Marcus Miller closes out a stellar 2011 campaign as the driving champion at both venues with 254 victories at Balmoral and 214 wins at Maywood going into the final weekend.
The Pick 5 went unclaimed Thursday so the Friday Pick 5 will not only have a $3,300 carryover but will start a slew of mandatory payouts on Friday at Maywood and Saturday at Balmoral. The Pick 5 starts on race 2.
Balmoral races Saturday and Sunday with a special holiday post of 6:30 central. The Saturday eleven-race program will have a final post of 10:24 central. There will be mandatory payouts on the Pick 4, Pick 5 and High 5.
Balmoral Park will kick off the 2012 season with a twelve-race card on Sunday. Maywood and Balmoral will offer guaranteed Pick 4 pools with a 15 percent takeout every racing night. Program pages are available on the handicapping section at ustrotting.com courtesy of Track Master.
