Low takeout and $20,543 carryover create rare advantage for players

By Michael Antoniades, Balmoral Park Racing Analyst

Do you know of a wager or place where they are returning more money to the winners than was bet? It’s a trick question, right? I am here to tell you that this place does exist tonight. The wager is the Pick 4 and the place is Balmoral Park.

How can this be? A combination of a record carryover of $20,543 and a low takeout of 15 percent gives players an extraordinary investment opportunity this evening.

Wagered tonight Returned to winners Players' edge Gross Pool
$ 50,000   $ 63,043   26%   $ 70,543
60,000   71,543   19%   80,543
70,000   80,043   14%   90,543
80,000   88,543   10%   100,543
90,000   97,043   7%   110,543

The largest Pick 4 ever at Balmoral Park was on September 19, 2010 with a final gross pool of $104,754. The carryover that night was $19,125. In the event that record is surpassed tonight, the players will still have an edge with any final pool of less than $157,496.
