GERALDINE GROSSPIETSCH PROMOTED TO DIRECTOR OF SALES

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Jan. 11, 2011) – Geraldine Grosspietsch has been promoted to the position of Director of Sales at Arlington Park it was announced Monday by Tony Petrillo, Arlington Park’s General Manager.

Grosspietsch joined Arlington Park during the track’s 2001 racing season, and in addition to selling group packages to customers in recent years she has taken on the responsibility of creating new sales packages and products.

In her new role, Grosspietsch will be responsible for building new sales opportunities while maintaining Arlington’s existing sales relationships, build and execute a strategic sales and event plan and oversee the entire sales team. In addition, she will be Arlington’s primary contact for meeting planners.

“I am excited about the opportunity to take the sales department at Arlington to the next level in the highly competitive Chicagoland entertainment market,” Grosspietsch said. “I look forward to leading our team toward that goal and introducing more people to the great sport of horse racing through Arlington’s world class facility.”

“Geraldine’s strong sales skills, organizational skills and leadership make her the ideal person to maintain Arlington’s position as a leader in hospitality and will significantly contribute to our strategy to re-establish Arlington as one of the top entertainment destinations in Illinois,” Petrillo said in making the announcement.

Before coming to Arlington, Grosspietsch spent 12 years at Marriott Management Services where she rose to the level of general manager. She is a graduate of Roosevelt University with a degree in hospitality management. Grosspietch is a resident of Lake Zurich and has one daughter, Elizabeth.

Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run an 86-day meet in 2011 from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, Sept. 25.
