Thornton, Ness still lead standings at Hawthorne
Stat time today for our stable notes as we take a look into the leaders for the meet. In the jockey standings, Pablo Morales made a move a week ago to get within a few victories of Tim Thornton, but Thornton has responded right back as he holds an eight-win margin of Morales right now 42-34. Tanner Riggs continues his consistent work with 32 wins, followed by Chris Emigh (27) and Eddie Razo, Jr. (25). Thornton’s win aboard Seans Silverdancer in the Whitworth last Saturday also keeps him atop the earnings category as his mounts have earned $626,487 heading into today.
The race for leading trainer is still very close as Jamie Ness holds a two-win advantage over Roger Brueggemann 20-18. Joel Berndt is still right there with 17 wins, followed by Chris Block (15) and Tammy Domenosky (14). Speaking of Tammy Domenosky, she is the leader in regards to percentage at 26 percent winners and an astounding 61 percent of her starters have hit the board this meet.
Today is another edition of our Jim Vs. competition as Tammy will be my guest host. I think I am at a huge disadvantage today as she has three horses entered on the card and really knows her stuff, but I like my selections as well. Next week will be another tough contest as Christina Bialek will be facing off against me.
We have another chat at www.HorseplayerNow.com today as I will be joined by Jeremy Plonk. Tune in at 1:15 and Get Plonked!!!!
