Hawthorne Handicapping finals today and tomorrow

Welcome back to everyone as we return from our brief Thanksgiving Day break. We have a very tough wagering card assembled for those ready to take on the Hawthorne Handicapping finals today and tomorrow. This contest has the best format out there as contestants play with their own money, but also keep what they win. There is still a little time to sign up, but you need to get to Guest Services before the start of races to get in on the mix. The rules are easy, you play with $300 of your own money today and $300 tomorrow. As your bankroll builds, so does your total. In the end, the person with the highest tally wins the $50,000 top prize for the contest. For those who don’t finish first, we have another $50,000 in cash and prizes to be handed out as well. Best of all, whatever you earn from your $300 bankroll, you keep!

Looking back at Wednesday’s card, the track played quite evenly and the day belonged to jockey Pablo Morales. Morales guided home four winners on the card, including the first three-time winner of the meet, See I A, in the day’s feature, a race that included millionaire Coach Jimi Lee and 2008 Illinois Derby Champ Recapturetheglory. On the meet, Tim Thornton stills holds the lead for riders, but it is close now as Thornton has guided home 32 winners, followed by Morales with 29 and the very hot Tanner Riggs with 26. Trainer Jamie Ness continues his fine meet as he stands atop the trainer standings with 18 winners, followed by Joel Berndt at 16 and Chris Block and Roger Brueggemann, each with 13 apiece. Midwest Thoroughbreds continue their hot meet as the leading owners, posting 20 victories thus far for the fall meet.

Another reminder, Joe Kristufek and myself will be online to cover the day’s races, along with Joe’s progress in the Handicapping Finals on www.HorseplayerNow.com. The chat will start at 1:15 pm and last through the entire race card. We had a fine day Wednesday and will cheer on Joe in the contest finals!
