High 5 carryover at Hawthorne
Today is another edition of our Jim Vs. competition and I am very excited to take on our contestant as Janine Starykowicz will be facing off against me. For those who don’t know Janine, she is the Mastermind behind the website barntowire.com and has put many hours of time and effort into that site, along with focusing on horse ownership, retirement and rescue. I commend Janine for all of her hard work and I am very worried that I may be facing defeat against her today.
Looking back at yesterday, I found the day to be a tough card, but some were successful. My handicapping logic always has me tossing horses that are making massive drops and are completely overbet. Unfortunately for me, a pair of those won yesterday and I was left watching. On the card, jockey Eddie Razo, Jr. had a triple and he has been winning at an extremely high percentage of late. Also, Tanner Riggs and Frank Kirby teamed up for a double as both of them have been hot in the past couple of weeks. The High 5 was not hit yesterday so we have a two-day carryover of $11,024 leading into today.

Featured Race of the Day
We kick off the late Pick 4 with a solid Optional Claiming Allowance feature as a field of nine with eight betting interests line up. The very hot ownership group of Midwest Thoroughbreds has a pair in here with #1 – Down the Road and #1a – See I A. Each horse possesses early speed but I expect See I A to head for the top and Down the Road to track the leader. Down the Road does come in off a layoff but is working well and See I A defeated a solid bunch in his last. Either could win today.
