Hawthorne live chat Friday, Saturday

Today is Illinois Festival of Racing Eve as we prepare for a great day of racing tomorrow with a 10-race card, featuring six stakes races for Illinois-bred runners. The Festival card is very competitive as always with full fields and wide open wagering options. We close the card with a very tough all stakes Pick 4 and the weather looks to be beautiful for our Festival day.

For those that want to get a head start on the Festival, you can join Joe Kristufek and myself tonight at 8:00 pm CDT as we will cover all six of the Festival stakes, providing analysis, insight and selections. Joe and I have seen many of these horses from the beginning of their careers and we hope to provide you with some winners for the Saturday card. To get in on the chat, join us at www.HorseplayerNow.com at 8:00 and we will be waiting for you.

In addition to tonight’s chat, Joe and I will also be online all day tomorrow to cover the card from Hawthorne. Aside from the six stakes races, we have four additional races that are extremely competitive and should produce some solid payouts.

Looking back at yesterday, the track evened out from the front-running windy conditions that we faced on Wednesday. I expect a very even surface once again today. A pair of riders had doubles yesterday as Chris Emigh and Inosencio Diego each won a pair. Trainer Joel Berndt continues his hot start to the meet as he also had a training double.

Featured Race of the Day

The sixth race is a tremendous wagering race as $18,000 claimers sprint 5 ˝ furlongs on the turf. I gave a look to five different horses in here and finally ended up on the horse who emerged on top against these last time out in #4 – Bang Bang Bang. After a bit of a slow start to the meet, trainer Jamie Ness has been winning a race a day of late and all of his runners have looked even better in their second race out. That should be a good sign for this one as he won at first asking this meet. This race still provides value and you may get 9-2 on him once again today.

The Featured Race of the Day will offer fans a chance to win a $5,000 Wager on the Breeders’ Cup Classic through the Breeders’ Cup Super Bet. Simply play our Featured Race each day with your Club Hawthorne Card and you are automatically entered for your chance to win. The last day to qualify is October 30 and we will draw our winner the following day.
