It's the Final Weekend of Thoroughbred Racing at Hawthorne Race Course!

The final weekend of festivities during live horse racing starts early on Friday, April 23 with sports personality Danny Mac from 670 the Score as guests will have trackside breakfast with the horses located on the Owner's Deck. The score will be live from 9 am-1 pm so wake up and get a head start on the exciting weekend at Hawthorne. Stay for the races and enjoy $2 specials including $2 Bud lights, $2 hot dogs, $2 nachos plus $2 admission and live race program. Also get a jump start on your Illinois Champions Day handicapping by joining Joe Kristufek, Jim Miller, and myself as we chat online at www.horseplayernow.com from 7 pm-8 pm CST Friday night.

We continue the fun on Saturday with eleven races including SIX Illinois bred stakes races each competing for $100,000. It's ILLINOIS CHAMPIONS DAY! Nina Chantele from Kiss FM will "announce" a race so come and cheer her on. Also don't miss a concert ticket giveaway to Fantabuloso courtesy of Kiss Radio. On Saturday, we also kick-off the Spring/Summer Challenge for your chance to grab a free entry into the 2011 Horseplayer World Series. The Summer Challenge will continue all summer long as you make Hawthorne your destination OTB! Get the complete list of contest dates at www.hawhorneracecourse.com.

Then we return on our final day of live Thoroughbred racing, FAMILY DAY, for the camel and ostrich races. We have ten races along with the exotic animal races. There will be hayrides and face painting for the little ones as well so bring out your family and friends. In addition to the family fun, we will have award presentations for leading trainer, jockey, and owners as we celebrate another successful meet at Hawthorne Race Course.

Live music, beer fest, and Hawthorne's famous BBQ will be on site for all three days to make it one memorable weekend for everyone.

Don't worry horse racing fans Hawthorne Race Course will be open the entire summer to make it the "best" place to watch simulcast races. You can earn up to 3 percent back when you use your Club Hawthorne card every time you head to the windows. Enjoy races across the country on over 100 High Definition TVs. Next big race to watch and wager on is the 2010 Kentucky Derby as they race for the roses on Saturday, May 1. Reserve your table today at 708-780-3733.
