Saturday Hawthorne updates
A nine-race Saturday card at Hawthorne brings about some competitive fields. The track played very evenly for the Friday afternoon of action on a card that produced a couple of very impressive Thoroughbred performances.
In the sixth race on the card, a 5 ½ furlong allowance sprint, longshot Officer Philly came weaving through traffic under Eddie Perez to get up in the final 70 yards for a length score. Jockey Tanner Riggs had another riding double as well, winning aboard Classified Blues in the opener and then posting a very impressive score on U S S Inchon in the 8th. That runner was on cruise control, winning by 13 ½ lengths and she probably could have won by well over 15 lengths if not geared down in the final 16th.
Today we have a pair of allowance races on the card and the 8th race is a very evenly matched Illinois Allowance field. Also, watch out for jockey Tim Thornton as he has a lot of live mounts on the card.

Race 7 - #2 Professor Hennessy This runner was very impressive in his last as he sat back early and then was weaving his way through traffic in the lane. He drew clear with an easy win and gets a similar bunch once again. Alabama Clay is a threat to try to wire these, but the possible pace duel could set things up for this late runner.
Race 8 - #2 Carts Zenforus After getting bumped and shuffled back at the start in her last, her day was over. She was also hung wide and never got into the mix. She draws well today and appears to be the fastest to the front. Expect a much improved effort, hopefully at a price better than the 8-5 that you got last time out.
