Jockey Wade cleared to ride

What a beautiful day for racing today! Sunny skies, temperatures in the upper 30s and a fast track once again for our nine-race card. Kudos to Track Superintendent Greg Cardenas and his staff for the work that they did on the racing surface for yesterday as well. On Saturday, there was a definite inside speed bias but the crew was able to get the track back to playing evenly for yesterday’s card and that has been the trend for the majority of the meet. Nice work by the crew!

Yesterday I wrote about Lyndie Wade hoping to return to the saddle soon and I got a great surprise when I saw Lyndie later in the day. His doctor’s appointment went very well and he was given the “all clear” to start riding again. He plans to work horses for a few days before returning to the saddle.

On Tuesday, jockey Eddie Perez rode a pair of late closing winners and trainer Tammy Domenosky trained a pair of upset winners as well. Today is another very evenly matched card and while a few fields are short, I expect there to be value all day long.

Best Bets

Race 6 - #6 – Tripple Zip – This four-year-old filly makes her second start as she comes off a solid effort in her last. She catches an easier bunch today and may have enough speed to clear to the lead. The break in weight with the bug boy in the saddle helps, but if she gets in a stretch duel, she may not finish as well as others.

Race 7 - #8 – Saudade – I am very curious about this race. There really isn’t any pace in here, so someone will have to set the pace. In the past, Saudade has been able to show a slightly better turn of foot from the gate, which could help her chances. She makers her second start back and may try to clear from the outside.
