Party in the Park, Family Days among Returning Favorites

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (March 18, 2010) - Arlington Park, which opens for the 2010 season on Thursday, April 29, has assembled an event schedule with something for everyone during the 91-day meet that continues through Sunday, Sept. 26. Returning favorites include Family Day, Miller Lite Party in the Park and Miller Lite Taste of Summer. In addition to Arlington Million Day on Saturday, Aug. 21, the suburban Chicago track has planned four very special days not to be missed - Kentucky Derby Day on Saturday, May 1; Mother's Day on Sunday, May 9; Father's Day on Sunday, June 20; and a Racing, Music and Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday, July 3.

On Kentucky Derby Day, those not able to get to Churchill Downs for the most exciting two minutes in sports can take in all the action from Louisville as well as participate in Chicagoland's Largest Derby Day Party at Arlington Park. A special 12-race day will start at 12:15 pm and guests can wager on the entire Derby Day schedule of races from Churchill. The first 2,500 guests to purchase tickets online at will receive an official Kentucky Derby mint julep glass and fans can enjoy Derby-themed food and beverage items including the Derby favorite - The Mint Julep.

In addition to pony rides and a petting zoo, racing fans will enjoy the swing sound of Bopology as part of Arlington Park's "throwback" theme. The family interactive area will include an activity where kids can make their own Kentucky Derby hats.

All-inclusive dining specials in the Million Room and in the International Room will highlight the day. Go to for package details. Reservations will be accepted beginning April 1, 2010 at 847-385-7410.

Treating Mom and the whole family to Mother's Day at the races has become an Arlington Park tradition and 2010 will be no exception. The first 7,500 ladies through the gates on Sunday, May 9 will receive a free rose. There will be special Mother's Day Brunch packages in the Million Room and in the International Room for those looking for an upscale day at the races. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 847-385-7410 beginning April 1.

Of course there will also be pony rides and a petting zoo in the Park area to keep the kids happy.

Dads get their turn on Father's Day - Sunday, June 21. A craft beer-tasting event, a cigar roller and an interactive area for Dad while the kids can enjoy pony rides and a petting zoo in the Park area will round out the day.

Arlington Park's July 3 "Racing, Music and Fireworks" spectacular will feature the longest and largest fireworks display not only in the Chicagoland area, but also in Arlington Park's storied history.

The day's racing starts at a special twilight post time of 4 pm and the racing action - which features the Grade III $150,000 Chicago Handicap - will run nearly seamlessly into a spectacular fireworks display that gets underway at nightfall. In addition, there will be live music on two stages and plenty of activities the entire family can enjoy.

The fireworks display, which will run more than 30 minutes, will be synchronized to a mixture of patriotic and popular music, and will encompass the entire infield area of the racecourse.

Packages combining general admission with a reserved seat for each of these premium days range from $10-$18 when purchased online and in advance or from $12-$20 when bought at the gate. General admission each of these days will be $8 if purchased in advance online or $10 at the gate. Tickets for all 91 days of the 2010 season go on sale on April 1.
