PARK LANE DEPUTY ROLLS TO YET ANOTHER WIN IN COLE MUFFLER STAKE

Park Lane Deputy
Park Lane Deputy and driver Dale Hiteman cruised to win number 15 on the season, knocking off eight rivals in Friday's $15,000 Cole Muffler Stake.
Division leader Park Lane Deputy added another notch in the win column on Friday, Nov. 27, as he knocked off eight other Illinois conceived and foaled three-year-old pacing colts by a length in 1:54.3.

Confidently handled by regular pilot Dale Hiteman, the brown Sportsmaster colt was hustled away from post position three. With Henry Gram (Thomas Graham Jr.) also leaving hard while just inside of him, Hiteman had Park Lane Deputy ranging up on the outside as the field reached the opening quarter in 27.2.

Taking control of the proceedings shortly thereafter, Park Lane Deputy faced immediate pressure from a hard charging My Boy Luke (Josh Sutton) as the sophomores rolled by the half-mile mark in 56.1.

Heading towards the three-quarter-mile station the pocket sitting Henry Gram began to tire, allowing Sutton to move My Boy Luke to the inside. That left a dangerous Grandma Jan’s Max (Brandon Simpson) to move into striking position while first over as Park Lane Deputy led them by the three-quarter-mile mark in 1:24.4.

Around the final bend and through the lane a game Park Lane Deputy continued to hold firm, turning aside the challenge of Grandma Jan’s Max and the pocket sitting My Boy Luke to record a one-length victory. Grandma Jan’s Max was second while My Boy Luke was third.

On top of the division right from the word go in 2009, the Homer Hochstetler-trained Park Lane Deputy now boasts a record of 15-4-2 in 25 starts this season with earnings of $222,452 for owner Shirley Le Vin.

The 2-5 favorite in the wagering returned $2.80, $2.10 and $2.10.
