| Maywood Park (5/1/09) Contact: Tom Kelley RICH N FLASHY ROLLS AGAIN IN TASER GUN STAKE
Given a very confident steer by driver Tyler Buter, this son of Richess Hanover-Duchess Hallie was content to sit back in sixth as Fox Valley Seth (Rick Dane Jr.) rolled through a quick opening quarter in 27.4. As the field headed into the stretch for the first time Buter had his charge out and rolling first over. Gobbling up ground on the outside of horses, Rich N Flashy quickly moved up to third behind Fox Valley Seth and the pocket-sitting Fort Silky (Robert Smolin) as the field moved by the halfway point in 57.3. With the field beginning to tighten up as the sophomores headed onto the backstretch for the final time, Rich N Flashy continued his assault on the pace setting Fox Valley Seth, drawing to within three-quarters of a length, as they hit the three-quarter mile mark in 1:26.4. Following the same script that had netted him three straight triumphs coming into this affair, the Kristopher Reynolds trainee then rattled off a 28.4 final quarter as he blew by his rivals to win by a deceptively easy 2 ½ lengths in 1:55.2. Fort Silky turned a ground-saving journey into the second place check while 53-1 longshot Timewell (Josh Sutton) followed the winner's every move to wind up third. After posting just one win in 13 starts as a freshman, Rich N Flashy has certainly made his presence felt this season, posting a record of four wins in seven starts while earning $26,550 for his connections. The 8-5 betting favorite returned $5.20, $3.20 and $2.20 to his backers. |
