CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today announced the appointment of Allan Monat to serve as a commissioner of the Illinois Racing Board. From 2002 to 2007, he served on the State of Illinois Home Inspector Advisory Board.

Monat, a former professional jockey, competed on the Chicago racing circuit from 1974 to 1984. While riding at the Chicago area Thoroughbred racetracks, he served as the Jockeys’ Guild representative. Following his riding career, he was a business agent for professional jockeys, negotiating riding agreements with horse trainers and owners.
