Hawthorne Race Course

Hawthorne Racecourse (12/11/09)

Full field for Edgar Futurity, new post time

A field of 14 heads postward in Saturday's Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity, the last stakes race of the year in Chicago. Run at 1 1/16 miles, the race is for 2-year-old colts and geldings.

Devient Behavior and Sheltowee head the entrants. Devient Behavior is the most consistent, hitting the board in all five starts but third as favorite Nov. 21 in his only try at the distance. The Ecton Park colt again has Tim Thornton in the saddle.

Sheltowee comes from the Chris Block barn, and is a half brother to Giant Oak and Apple Martini. The Saint Liam colt is still a maiden but has run the distance three times, resulting in two second-place finishes.

The complete field in post position order with riders: Patricks Bluffing, C. Pitty; Devient Behavior, T. Thornton; Smoke N Asphalt, J. Lasala; Fast Deposit, B. Meier; Sheltowee, E. Perez; Durazno, F. Geroux; Ruler of the Court, D. Sukie; Wildwood Winner, J. Ferrer; Show Your Face, L. Wade; Spy Hunter, A. Stanley; Slewzoom, T. Riggs; Euromillion, R. Hernandez; Seguro, D. Sanchez; and Dunnotarr, J. Felix.

Starting Saturday, December 12, post time at Hawthorne will move to 1:05 pm.
