| Hawthorne Racecourse (10/18/09) Contact: Ron Uchman (708) 780-3700 Apprentice Giles scores first career victoryA Secret No LongerSTICKNEY, IL – Apprentice rider Francisco Giles, aboard longshot Secret Glitter ($87.60), scored a daylight victory in the fifth race at Hawthorne Race Course on Sunday. This was the first career victory for Mr. Giles. A California native, the 19-year-old Giles grew up in Mexico. He’s been galloping horses for a couple of years on the farm, but riding for only about a month. Might want to keep an eye on him. He looked good sitting chilly on the winner, without a lot of extravagant and wasted movement. He could improve greatly after getting that first win under his belt. Early Pick 4 Carryover The longshot victory, coupled with another longshot (My Barbs $51.40) in the prior race, ensured a carryover in the Early Pick 4 going into Wednesday’s races. The carryover amount is $10,295. Hawthorne will be racing live every Wednesday – Sunday this fall with a first post of 1:20 pm. Racing will be conducted Wednesday through Sunday with first post of 1:20 pm. On Fridays through November 20, post time will be 2:30 pm.
