Israel Ocampo Wins Six
STICKNEY, IL – Rider Israel Ocampo scored six victories at Hawthorne Race Course on Sunday. Two of those victories were aboard runners trained by Christine Janks. Interestingly, he won with every runner that he was scheduled to ride. His lone blemish was a fourth-place finish aboard a pick-up mount (Tip Along) in the seventh race.
He started his streak with Publish (Janks) in the fourth race ($8.80). Then, he took the sixth with Last Stop (Williamson, $7.20) and finished fourth on Tip Along in the seventh. Then he took the last four races: eighth race Calibrachoa (Asmussen, $9.40); ninth race Del Bonita (Yanez, $12.80); tenth Laguna Amiga (Canani, $4.40); and the eleventh with Silent Candy (Janks, $20.20).
In winning the last four races, Ocampo was also aboard for the late Pick 4 ($779.40) and the late Pick 3 ($171.00).
Ocampo did equal that win mark once before, riding in Mexico, his native country.
Hawthorne will be racing live every Wednesday – Sunday this fall with a first post of 1:20 pm. Racing will be conducted Wednesday through Sunday with first post of 1:20 pm. On Fridays through November 20, post time will be 2:30 pm with two special twilight cards on the evenings of October 9 and 16 with a first post of 5:30 pm.
