| Balmoral Park (5/13/09) Contact: Tom Kelley DRIVERS ESCAPE UNSCATHED AFTER NASTY WRECKWednesday night’s fourth race at Balmoral Park was declared a “no-contest” after a nasty wreck prevented any of the seven starters from finishing the race. The accident happened midway around the final turn when Moses Hanover, who was being driven by Mike Oosting, made a nasty break. Darcy Pletcher, who was driving Pappy, was sitting right on his back when the wreck occurred causing his horse to hit the ground. The remainder of the field was also unable to miss the accident causing drivers Dale Hiteman, Mike Rogers and Tyler Buter to be unseated. Brandon Simpson and Josh Sutton were also involved in the wreck but managed to stay upright. Despite some scrapes and bruises all seven drivers finished out the remainder of the card and all the horses’ involved escaped unscathed. |
