On the Track as Well as Under the Hood

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 20, 2009) – As the curtain falls on the Thoroughbred racing season at Arlington next week, there will be two kinds of horsepower on display for the track’s closing day festivities Sunday, Sept. 27.

In addition to a 10-race card of Thoroughbred races, the track will play host to its inaugural “Horsepower” event that features the fastest examples of horsepower both on the track and under the hood.

Guests will be able to view a variety of "Famous Four Wheels" Car Exhibits throughout the Park including the chance to have their picture taken with Disney/Pixar's "Doc Hudson" car, Michael Andretti’s 1986 Indianapolis 500 car or the record-breaking 1500HP 1969 “Blowfish” Cuda to name just a few.

In addition there will be live '50s and '60s music on the band stage provided by The Stingrays as well as food, prizes, interactive games and much more. Fans can meet “Sparky” the mascot from the Chicago Fire professional soccer team.

Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 98-day meet in 2009 from Friday, May 1 through Sunday, Sept. 27.
