ARLINGTON QUALIFERS STRIKE IT RICH AT COAST CASINO’S HORSEPLAYER’S WORLD SERIES
Trackside OTB Live Money Contest Series Returns March 7
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (March 3, 2009) – Two area residents who earned qualifying berths from Arlington Park for the 2009 Horseplayer’s World Series – Dave Sellner of Palatine and Dennis Lindbergh of Midlothian – posted top 20 finishes in the recently concluded tournament held at Coast Casino in Las Vegas. Sellner finished 10th, earning a prize of $6,800 for his placing, while Lindbergh’s 20th-place finish was worth $3,400.
The Trackside OTB Spring Live Money Contest Series begins Saturday, March 7 with the first of eight scheduled events in the Spring Handicapping Series at Trackside Arlington Park. The winner of each weekly contest will earn a berth into the expected 2010 Coast Casino’s Horseplayer World Series and an additional season-long “wild-card” berth will be awarded to the person with the best cumulative score over the eight contests who did not win an individual event in the series.
Unlike many other handicapping contests, there is no entry fee. All a person must do to participate is purchase a $50 contest wagering card at the Twin Spires Club Center at the designated location on the day of each contest and play a minimum of five races from that day’s card at Hawthorne Race Course. A player keeps what he earns, thus there is no contest takeout.
To help players on each designated contest day, Chicago Sun-Times handicapper and HorsePlayer magazine Midwest correspondent M. Scott McMannis will conduct a handicapping seminar on that day’s Hawthorne card beginning at Noon and will remain on hand to answer questions throughout the afternoon. Fans wishing to keep up on the latest contest news can check McMannis’s blog on Arlington Park’s Web site at www.arlingtonpark.com.
