Wood End Farms release

Chicago Thoroughbred Retirement Charity Celebrates the Triple Crown with an Open House and Fun Filled Day

Barrington, Ill., May 28, 2008 – Wood End Farms, the Chicago area’s only non-profit Thoroughbred retirement charity, is celebrating horse racing’s Triple Crown with a day of fun and an open house featuring the farm’s retired racehorses on Sunday, June 1.

Visitors will be treated to a history of the Triple Crown, even as they stroke the noses of Wood End’s beautiful retired racehorses that are descended from racing’s greats. The program will also include a design-your-own jockey silks segment. Those attending the workshop will also enjoy refreshments and will receive free tickets to watch horse racing live at nearby Arlington Park, one of North America’s premier horse racing venues.

An open house, featuring a live horse swimming demonstration, will follow the program. Participants will tour Wood End’s barn and learn about how we retire, rehabilitate and retrain Thoroughbred racehorses, preparing them for second careers as pleasure and sport horses.
