| Balmoral Park (8/16/08) Contact: Tom Kelley COLDHEARTEDREVENGE PULLS OFF THE UPSET IN SATURDAY’S FREE FOR ALL
After a heated stretch drive in which just a half-length separated the top four horses in the race, it was Thomas Ceraso & John Glumarra’s classy seven-year-old Coldheartedrevenge who emerged with a neck decision in a blistering 1:49.4. Sitting at the back of the pack as last week’s FFA winner My Boy David (Brent Holland) tore through splits of 26.2, 55.0 & 1:23.1, driver Mike Oosting, who picked up the drive after the sick scratch of probable post time favorite Load The Dice, tipped three wide at the top of stretch. Raging with pace, the Paul Stafford trainee exploded through the lane with a 25.4 final split to rally in the final strides. My Boy David hung on gamely for second while Enough Hanover (Josh Sutton) & Booze Cruzin (Sam Widger) wound up in a dead-heat for the show slot. The win was the 44th in the career of Coldheartedrevenge who also boasts lifetime earnings of more than $720,000. Just as he did last Saturday night, Steve Beam’s Real Mean Art equaled the fastest mile of the night putting up a 1:49.4 clocking in a $6,500 conditioned event. Using his blazing early speed, the five-year-old son of Real Artist posted his second straight victory for the driver-trainer combination of Del & Merv Chupp. For more information call (708) 672-1414 or visit www.balmoralpark.com. |
