| Balmoral Park (3/14/08) Contact: Tom Kelley RYAN ANDERSON TO MEET AND GREET FANS ON SATURDAY AT BALMORAL
The 27-year-old Crete, IL native has been sidelined since undergoing surgery to repair a broken femur suffered in a nasty spill at Balmoral Park on Dec. 23. Anderson’s rehabilitation is going well and he is actually a bit ahead of schedule in regards to returning to racing action. “I’m getting better and better and I think I’m about 90 percent right now,” said Ryan. “I’m pushing myself and the therapists are pushing me harder and harder during my three trips a week to rehab.” Anderson’s goal is to be back in the bike sometime around the first or second week of April but he stressed that if the doctors still feel that he should give it some additional time to heal that he will obey their wishes. “I’ve really got the itch to drive again and I’m really getting tired of sitting around at night,” he said. Anderson will be located on the second floor grandstand right near the entry table for the third round of the Chicagoland Harness Handicapping Challenge. He is expected to be available to greet fans, talk harness racing and sign autographs from approximately 6:45 p.m. until 8:30 pm. In addition to the Handicapping Challenge, fans will have a chance to pocket some big cash in the 50 Cent Pick 5 Wager. The wager was not hit on Wednesday night therefore a carry-over of $4,426 will be added to the jackpot on Saturday. Mutuel Manager Bill Mudro is expecting a Pick 5 pool in excess of $20,000 with the carry-over. The Pick 5 consists of races three through seven with post time for the third race expected to be approximately 7:55 p.m. (central). The 14-race program gets underway at 7:20 pm (central). |
