Scott McMannis and Joe Kristufek, and Arlington Park track announcer John G. Dooley will be on hand “talking horses” at Trackside OTB locations on selected weekend days during the autumn of 2008. The Fall 2008 tour of Trackside OTB facilities is third such OTB tour and is being conducted on a grander scale than either of the first two tours with appearances scheduled most Fridays and Saturdays from Sept. 26 through Dec. 13. This will be the first such tour for Dooley and Pacheco, who became Arlington’s on-air paddock show host and handicapper this year; McMannis, the Arlington Park handicapper for the Chicago Sun-Times and Midwest correspondent for HorsePlayer magazine, is making his second tour of Trackside OTB locations; and Kristufek, Arlington’s morning-line maker as well as handicapper for the Daily Herald and horseplayerpro.com, will be making his third trek through the local Trackside facilities. Each handicapper will bring his or her unique skills to their presentations and in addition to focusing their efforts on that afternoon’s Illinois thoroughbred card from Hawthorne Race Course, they will remain on hand to talk racing, answer questions and help fans hone their handicapping skills. The tour of Trackside OTBs begins on Friday, Sept. 26 when Dooley and Pacheco will be at Trackside Arlington Park, located on the southeast corner of the Arlington Park grounds; and Kristufek will be Trackside Chicago, located at 901 W. Weed Street. One of the highlights of the tour will be a special Breeders’ Cup handicapping seminar to be held Thursday, Oct. 23 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Trackside Arlington Park featuring Joe Kristufek and special guest handicappers to be determined. Kristufek will participate from the Santa Anita Park, where he is covering this year’s Breeders’ Cup. The seminar will explore wagering and handicapping strategies in an interactive format.
