1492. . . .Columbus Day Treat for Hunch Players
Stickney, IL - It wasn’t the Nina, Pinta or Santa Maria that sailed to the finish line in the Columbus Day finale at Hawthorne Race Course, but it was a Harbor Craft. And when Harbor Craft, the number 4 horse in the program nosed out the 9 horse Jazzy Gallop for the win, only hunch players with a gifted imagination had the “boating” relationship nailed.
Harbor Craft paid $31.20 to win.
For those who remembered the year of Columbus’s voyage, your love of horses combined with your elementary education resulted in a much greater treat.
In a photo finish for the 3rd and 4th positions, the number one horse, Slewey Armstrong edged out the number 2 horse Ope to complete an order of finish of 4-9-1-2.
If you superfecta boxed the year Columbus sailed the “ocean blue,” which of course was 1492, you had a memorable holiday, as you walked away with $5,636.00.
As I like to say folks, you can’t make this stuff up!
