The Taser Gun retirement celebration continues
Taser Gun, the Illinois Harness Horse Hall of Fame member officially retired June 19, 2007 at the Greene County Fair in Carrollton, Illinois, but will be the guest of honor for the 138th edition of the Brown County Fair, August 2 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois.
The Mid-Western Illinois Racing Association member fair will host programs on August 1 & 2, 2007, and is the only Illinois county fair to feature pari-mutuel harness racing.
Post time both evenings is 7 p.m.
The Wednesday, August 1 card is loaded with M-WIRA stakes events for Illinois bred 2-year-old pacers, and 3-year-old trotters, racing for estimated purses of $12,000 respectively.
The signature Taser Gun Pace, for Illinois breds 4-years-old and up with a purse estimated at $18,000; and considered the richest and fastest event in Illinois county fair history, will highlight Thursday’s card. Constant Change, the only horse to win the Taser Gun Pace two consecutive years, returns for an attempt at a third title.
Also on Thursday, M-WIRA stakes events, again with purses estimated at $12,000 will be contested for 2-year-old trotters, and 3-year-old pacers lining up behind the starting gate prior to the main event.

Additional fair attractions include: Queen Pageant, July 31; Grand National Tractor Pull, August 3; Demolition Derby, August 4; the return of the beer tent for the second consecutive year; and the free carnival on Thursday evening sponsored by the Farmers State Bank of Mt. Sterling.
